Description:
The 2016 Drainage Improvements Project – City of Elgin focused on upgrading the stormwater drainage system to improve water flow and reduce flooding along West Brenham Street and Avenue B.
The work included the installation of reinforced concrete box culverts, storm sewer pipes, concrete valley gutters, curb inlets, and V-drains, as well as the construction of new concrete driveways, curbs, and sidewalks. Additional tasks involved grading and excavation, riprap placement, erosion control, traffic management, and stormwater pollution prevention (SWP3) compliance.
This project significantly improved the city’s stormwater infrastructure, increasing drainage efficiency and protecting surrounding neighborhoods from flood damage.
